Hyssop. It's got an interesting aroma.... definitely herb-y in nature, and not common found here in the USA. Historically, hyssop has quite a tale to tell both Biblically and as an early BC/AD medicinal plant. Did you know that according to the World Health Organization, upwards of 80% of the world's population still rely on traditional medicinal plants for primary healthcare needs? Pharmacognosy is the study of medicines produced from natural sources such as plants. Do some digging on hyssop. It's an interesting one!
Happy weekend friends!
ICP: Supplement Appreciation Spotlight📣
Perhaps one of the biggest clues🔎 of all isn’t a part of our body. Rather, it’s what’s being put into it! How did we (as a nation) become among the sickest (even when compared to 3rd world countries) despite the vast amount of food available? The answer…. processed food 🍩🍕🍟and eating too few fruits🍅🍒🍑🍓🍠 and vegetables.
Food has been a source of healing for thousands of years, yet in the last 50 years, food in the USA has become an enormous source of illness, mostly due to what we choose to eat and also what we choose not to eat.
The average American doesn’t get adequate soluble and insoluble fiber in their daily diet. Half a century ago, this would not have been a problem, but today it’s a HUGE one. Soluble and insoluble fibers are found in plants🌱 we eat….. And if you aren’t eating enough unprocessed plants, there will be a fiber deficiency.
When soluble and insoluble fibers are combined in the duodenum (the very first part of the small intestine), a gel is formed which binds bile, TOXINS, and other undigested material. Heaven knows we are exposed to all manner of ☠️toxins on a daily basis, but this is especially true of modern day food and beverages (pesticides, herbicides, processed food ingredients…. Including sweeteners). This binding of toxins protects the rest of the body and helps keep the liver from getting overwhelmed….. And if the liver’s unhappy, the rest of the body will follow suit.
Other benefits of soluble and insoluble fiber:
*Soluble and insoluble fibers also feed the good bacteria in the gut…. Which is good for them and great for us!
*Soluble and insoluble fibers slow the breakdown of starches. Without getting too technical, this too is very helpful for the liver (and us!), as the liver also takes excess starch and turns it into fat. This translates into keeping insulin response down and fat within the body from building up.
*Soluble and insoluble fibers promote a faster transit time thru the intestine, causing a specific hormone to be released into the bloodstream and sent to the brain….. Where it tells us “hey, you’re full….. Quit eating!”.
*The “good bacteria” in the gut return the favor, after having been well fed by these fibers, and begin producing byproducts that reduce inflammation in the body.
*Finally, these two fiber types also act as a gentle cleansing agent in the colon….. Dislodging and sloughing off old dead cells. This is HUGELY important in reducing colon cancer risk (currently the 3rd most common cancer).
My first suggestion will always be to heal and protect yourself with quality nourishing food. You’ll never be able to “out supplement” a bad diet. #thatsafactjack
ICP stands in the gap for those who need a little extra digestive system help and who have realized that their health clues point towards a need to better love on their gut and liver.
In addition to a stellar soluble/insoluble fiber blend (psyllium, oat, fennel, rice bran, guar gum seed, Mojave yucca root, and cellulose powders), ICP also contains digestive enzymes to specifically break down fats and proteins at various pH points in the gut.
Aloe Vera, Fennel, Anise, Ginger, Lemongrass, and Rosemary oils round out the ICP recipe…. This combination is helpful in supporting digestion, promoting a healthy inflammatory response (as opposed to the runaway train variety), and in creating an inhospitable environment for “the less desirables” that may want to lurk within the depths of your intestines.
If previous health clues have been pointing towards showing a bit more TLC to your digestive tract, ICP may be a welcome addition to the supplement shelf!
Good morning and Happy June! Can you believe we are already almost half way thru 2021? 😍
I'm excited to see these June freebies personally, and here's why...
300 PV tier
Retail value: $185.53
Peace & Calming essential oil blend, 15 ml
• We just added two new large rescue pups (teenagers really) to our farm crew, which changes the pack dynamics on our farm. ALWAYS, the goal is to have zero skirmishes within our dog pack of 6, so we use ALL the tools and skillsets to make sure this doesn't happen. Diffusing Peace & Calming friends.... and applying to to their collars and ears. I've been told this works nicely on kiddos too 😍, and I know it works well on we adults too!
The blue tansy in Peace and Calming just makes everything better! Hint: blue oils are great for skin and emotions!
250 PV tier
Retail value: $91.78
Aroma Siez essential oil blend, 15 ml
• When it's not raining (we've had a FLOOD here.... like almost nonstop for a month), I'm out in the garden pulling weeds like a crazy woman. 👩🌾 If you've ever pulled weeds by hand for 4 hours straight, you'll know how important Aroma Siez is to your muscles!
190 PV tier
Retail value: $47.37
Citronella essential oil, 15 ml
We've been using those nontoxic mosquito dunks like crazy in an effort to keep the mosquito population down out here, but frankly, there aren't enough mosquito dunks in the world to address the amount of standing water we've had, so the mosquitos are literally taking over the universe (in our area anyway). Solution? Become a walking diffuser!
Make a DIY outdoor spray blend of Citronella with oils like Rosemary, Tea Tree, Myrtle, Clove, or Lemongrass and spritz it on clothing as needed.
(pro tip: I also put a couple of drops of lemongrass vitality in a capsule and take it twice a day especially during summer months)
You could also add a drop or two of Citronella to your YL Sunscreen and solve two problems at once with application!
Bonus Essential Rewards: Eucalyptus Globulus essential oil, 15 ml
Lung health! ...... do your research friends. Good stuff!
• I totally equate Eucalyptus (and rosemary and lavender) with a spa day (a rare rare luxury)...... make yourself a mixture of these three and add to your dryer balls or make a spritz bottle for your pillow. You'll breathe easier and life will feel that much better wrapped in healthy goodness!
And as always...... free shipping with any order greater than 100 PV.
Have a beautiful day!!
www.goodmedicine.info (ready to experience the good stuff, and receive quality education [not seen here] for free? Let's chat!)
Emotions and thoughts are powerful things.🔥 I'm reading a book right now (written by a medical doctor) about the physiological consequences of even low grade chronic fear (most often manifesting as stress and anxiety).... and the difference between "true" fear (a bear is about to eat me), and "false" fear (all those things we tell ourselves in our head). The body cannot differentiate between the two types, so it acts the same.
The same thing holds true for other destructive emotions and thought patterns that tend to grip us humans (and animals too!).
Oh but oils can't help with that. Really?? Have you tried? Really tried? Retraining your brain is like working to repair a deeply worn path in the ground. Not only do you have to forge a new path ( thought process), you also will need to fill in the dirt.... plant new plants.... and make a concerted effort to let that old path heal without returning to it. It takes work!
The brain is a powerful piece of machinery, and our essential oils are a powerful tool to help get the job done... the amygdala / limbic system in the brain is more powerful than you can imagine (especially when given the right support tools! )
...... all good things take time and effort, and YOU are a good human!.... very worth the time and effort to train your brain to stop doing whatever is holding you back!
Notice anything interesting about this graphic? Yep! All these helper oil blends are free😍 this month as a gift with qualifying purchase❤.
xoxo~ liz 😘

🌷🌺🌸🌹🌼🌻Happy May Friends!🌷🌺🌸🌹🌼🌻
Did anyone else grow up in a community that celebrated May 1st by making little baskets of food and candy and then leaving those gifts on people's doorknobs after ringing the doorbell and running away?
Now the FedEx or USPS drivers don't usually ring the doorbell anymore, but your monthly order just might contain one or all of these oils as with qualifying gift with purchase!
While each of these oil blends smells amazing diffused or used as a perfume, it's the individual oils within that affect our brains and cells in very specific ways. In fact, the names of the oils are suggestive of their action on specific parts of the brain that help us navigate certain feelings and emotional responses . It's not woo woo stuff..... this is science in action! 😍😍 #sciencenerdsunite
If you sat in on our Oily Underground chat last Monday on ZOOM, you would have heard some very interesting conversation about keeping our cells and DNA healthy, happy, and intact. It was very relevant information for the times we live in. Many oils were mentioned, and there was quite a bit of discussion on how to know which oils to choose to use. As I looked thru the individual oils listed in each blend in May's gift with purchase, I observed that these 5 oil blends contain so many of the individual oils we talked about!
💖PERFUME WITH PURPOSE! 💖
As you put your monthly Subscribe to Save together (formerly known as Essential Rewards), know that YL's got your back (and brain and cells! 😉).
You might also check out the very timely Mother's Day sale! My most favorite beautiful diffusers are on sale.... The Lustre and Lucia. These glass diffusers are so classy and pairing them with an oil or two would make a great gift! At 25% off, these two diffusers are super affordable! I'll post more info in the comments!...... if you are not yet a part of our community, this is a terrific inexpensive way to get plugged in! I'll post more info about the sale in the comments.
(PS: Oily Underground chats on Monday nights at 7:30pm CST are a perk of team membership...... these ZOOM calls are NOT recorded, and are always loaded with healthy helpful, valuable, personalized, science backed information! If you'd like to know more, please message me here or thru www.goodmedicine.info)
My dear friend Jen...... she is a wise one. Good word (and info) this fine Monday morning! 👇👇👇
Recently I walked some folks through a bit of time diving into 21 days of heart health. Heart health is so much more about emotional health than even physical health. And if you want to get down to the nitty gritty, spiritual health trumps all that and more.
I have found adding these three to a roller bottle, topping off with a carrier oil such as V-6 has done wonders for soothing and healing the heart- on a number of levels. Using your essential oils to begin the healing process is a must, yet I would caution you to not simply throw on the oil without a thought or intention of telling the oils where to go.
Yes, you heard me. Give the oils their marching orders. If you know, then you know. If you don't- find me over text and we'll chat it out.
Vetiver traditionally has been used in aromatherapy for relaxation and alleviating emotional stress, panic attacks, trauma, anxiety, insomnia, hysteria and depression. A 2015 study investigated the effects of vetiver oil as a tool that assists with reducing anxiety and the neurological actions in the central amygdaloid nucleus.
In case you're wondering as I was when I read it, the central amygdaloid nucleus connects with brainstem areas that control the expression of behaviors; it’s responsible for the perception and results of emotions, such as changes in heart rate, blood pressure and respiration.
Ylang Ylang is another one that is powerfully beneficial for the heart. For starters it boosts even the most non oily human's mood and has the capacity to reduce depression. Beyond that Ylang Ylang has been shown to lower blood pressure and decrease heart rates. So if you've got some situations happening in your ticker, this is one to add in.
Geranium- the oil of love and trust. Geranium encourages the opening of the heart space so love may flow freely. If the emotional body feels congested with old grief and disappointments, Geranium opens channels to let it all go, and make space for newness to circulate.
When we hear about oil being used in the Bible, it may be easy to glide over the word and move on......( at least it was for me years ago) until I learned the historical uses for essential oils and pure carrier oils (like olive, coconut, jojoba, etc). Once I knew, reading the Bible became a 4th dimensional experience because I could grab an oil and thru smell and application, step into the pages.
There is a document called The Papyrus Ebers which contains recipes for health and wellness. It is the longest and most famous document relating to the practice of ancient medicine, written about 1500 B.C.. The Bible is ripe with medical information that coorborates the Papyrus Ebers..... not surprising considering the Bible is to be used as a handbook for living life well ( and healthy!).
When Jesus was given gold, frankincense and myrrh, the latter two had more value than the gift of gold for their health benefits (and monetary value too).
A good shepherd knew the medicinal value of oil that came from plants. He would know which plants repelled flies, made the best poultices, or healed a wound. This information was passed down from generation to generation. Neither man, beast, or plant has changed much over the centuries, and God has not changed at all.
He gave us what we need in the garden🙏. It's up to us to use it.
(If you'd like to learn more, let's chat!)
No foolin'! Happy April friends!
We will begin to see some slightly different Young Living lingo as we prepare as a company to migrate over to a new gorgeous and easy to use website in the next month. #itshappening !
Our monthly freebies will be called "gift with (qualifying) purchase".... easy enough, right?
Here's a few tips on this month's gift with purchase:
Thieves (15ml): if you haven't popped a roller top on this staple and been applying to the bottoms of your feet on a daily basis, you are missing out on a VIP Immune supportive tool! Remember, what goes on the body affects every cell in the body (good or bad). Thieves is a highly potent "good guy".
Bergamot (5ml): elevate your mood with a few drops of this beauty in your diffuser! It is our pastor's favorite oil to diffuse in his office while he works (one of mine too!).
Grapefruit (15ml): one of my personal favorites! Such a fresh and happy scent in the diffuser, and when applied topically (or using the vitality internally.... remember, same oil different label) it's very supportive of metabolism and lymphatic system flushing.
Jade Lemon (5ml): Another glorious smelling happy citrus oil! I keep a bottle of Jade Lemon in my laundry room and add a few drops to dryer balls to freshen up my laundry.
Tangerine (15ml): My favorite of all the citrus oils! Relaxing and happy ! All of these citrus oils are loaded with limonene...... if you are inclined..... head over to pubmed.gov and do some digging. You will be shocked (in a good way!) and amazed at what limonene does for us.
Citrus Fresh (15ml): Ya'll, we're all gonna feel like we live smack dab in the middle of a citrus orchard before April is over😍🍊🍋🍈🍊🍋🍈, and I'm good with that! God gave us these fragrances because He knew how impactful they are to our neurotransmitters that need a little happy boost sometimes! I implore you...... grab your books and do some digging. Each one of these oils have powerful jobs beyond just smelling amazing!
Peppermint (15ml): Well now, peppermint anywhere is amazing! Remember that it too comes as both "regular" and "vitality" (same oil, different bottle label). In the diffuser, it's amazing for concentration and focus, and when added to your water it also adds a little pep to your step (and aids in calming unhappy colons!). Topically, it can help cool a hot body (have you ever tried making a "hot day " body spray?). This oil is incredibly versatile and I bet ya'll could drop another 20 ways you have used this oil!
How are ya'll going to use these? Share a way you use one of these oils! You'll be helping others out just by sharing your experiences and victory stories!
Have a great day!
Breath Clues: Part II
Becoming aware of HOW you breathe is important both as a health clue and an (inexpensive and valuable!) wellness tool.
Did you take the quick quiz on the graphic? If not, take a moment to do so!
Statistically, chronic shallow (mouth, neck, and upper chest) breathing is the most common type of breathing in Westernized cultures. This type of breathing perpetuates stress and anxiety, activates the "fight or flight" (sympathetic response), and suppresses the immune system.
Conversely, diaphragmatic (deep belly) breathing balances the nervous system, supports heart health, improves circulation, promotes lymphatic drainage, reduces stress, calms the mind, and brings the body back into a more homeostatic state.
Do you notice how some people remain calm, cool, and collected while others become a tightly wound spring with every stressor? The ability to pivot from "fight or flight" to "rest and digest" is incredibly important to health outcomes! ( Pharmacist tip: Learning to do this is helpful in keeping you away from the pharmacy!)
The longest nerve in the body is called the 👉vagus nerve 👈. It runs from the brain thru the lungs and on to the gut, and affects every organ and body system it comes in contact with along the way ..... stomach, intestines, liver, gallbladder, heart, lungs, and the immune, endocrine, respiratory, and cardiovascular systems. In other words, the vagal nerve pathway is kind of a big deal! 😍
High vagal tone is incredibly important to overall health and wellbeing..... really, it's a use it or lose it situation. Low vagal tone is associated with increased risk for cardiovascular disease, stroke, diabetes, GI disorders, and depression. Diaphragmatic breathing increases vagal tone!
If deep belly breathing is not something you do on the regular (ie: it's become second nature to you), Here are a few tips and tricks:
👉 Start with just 2 minutes several times a day.
1. Place one hand on your upper chest and the other just below your rib cage, so you can feel your diaphragm move as you breathe.
2. Inhale deeply thru your nose for the count of 6-8 seconds (or 4-5 seconds if that's too much).... allowing your belly to expand. Try to fill your lungs with air. NOTE! The hand on your chest should remain as still as possible.
3. Slowly exhale through your nose for the count of 6-8 (or 4-5) drawing your belly button in and down as your abdomen moves inward.
4. As you breathe inward deeply, envision oxygen flowing inward and recharging your body. As you exhale, envision all the stress and tension leaving your body.
5. Practice this for 2-3 minutes at a time (20-30 breath cycles). Graduate to 5 minutes as you are able!
Scientifically noted benefits of diaphragmatic breathing can be further enhanced when you pair your breathing practice with Young Living essential oils known for their supportive roles in health and wellness goals:
🌿Want to improve mood? Pair your practice with Citrus Fresh eo blend!
🌿 Looking for better concentration? Try Brain Power or Frankincense!
🌿 Looking to better manage pain? (Yes, deep breathing helps with this too!) Add in PanAway or Deep Relief
🌿 Wanting to lower your blood pressure (Yep, deep breathing exercises does this too!)..... support happy vascular system breathing practices with Joy, Aroma Life, Ylang Ylang, or Lavender.
🌿Lowering blood sugar (amazing what regular deep breathing may do! Consider deep inhalations of Coriander, Melissa, or Christmas Spirit!
🌿 Improve your sleep. Pair pre bedtime deep breathing with a diffuser loaded with Cedarwood, Orange, and Lavender!
🌿 Use as a tool in your weight loss journey. Have you tried Grapefruit essential oil or Thieves on the bottom of the feet?
🌿 Strengthen the pelvic floor muscle (which will also improve bladder and bowel elimination function!). Consider pairing with Clary Sage, Cypress, or (Digize 👈 for colon support).
🌿Better lymphatic flow?.... You'll love Lemon essential oil (both regular and vitality!)!
Noticing how you are breathing, and then making corrections as needed is a simple, but VIP wellness tool and health clue! Just as diaphragmatic breathing is helpful, chronic shallow breathing will exacerbate many health problems, and over time, may also contribute to lung infections and lung diseases.
Just breathe...... deeply!

* Although we could explore skin clues for the rest of the year, today we’ll wrap up dermal geographical points of interest. You’re getting the idea, right? The body, especially its “packaging” gives loads and loads of early clues as to the direction a body’s health may be headed. As with GPS, you can pay attention to the map and gain control over where you are heading, or you can ignore the map/clues……... and who knows where you may end up!
* Acanthosis nigricans (AN) is a skin abnormality that results in velvety darker discolorations found most often in body folds and creases. The discoloration develops gradually over time and is most often seen across the back of the neck, armpits, and groin area. Although acanthosis nigricans is sometimes an inherited skin characteristic, the most common cause is diabetes and obesity. Endocrine abnormalities (thyroid) and certain cancers (adenocarcinomas) can also cause this type of skin change.
Chronic use of certain medications can also cause AN. Birth Control Pills and some hormone replacement therapies, steroids, high dose niacin, and a class of drugs used to treat HIV (protease inhibitors) are the most common offenders.
* Keratosis pilaris (KP) is an annoying but harmless skin condition which causes dry rough patches and tiny bumps often seen on the upper arms, thighs, cheeks, or buttocks. You may have heard it sometimes called “chicken skin”. An estimated 40% of the population has experienced it, and though often related to a Vitamin A deficiency (which is seen in roughly 51% of adults in the USA), KP is most often seen in people who regularly eat a very specific set of food triggers.
Who’d have thought that 51% of adults in the USA would have a Vitamin A deficiency?.... And yet we do. Vitamin A deficiency will ultimately affect the eyes in addition to the skin. Young Living has a super eye health supplement called Illumineyes which happens to be loaded with Vitamin A. #killtwobirdswithonestone
Those with KP would do best to avoid common skin irritants found in mainstream bath and body care products. Thankfully, Young Living has us covered here too! They make caring for ourselves so very easy! Have you tried any of the YL bath and shower gels and bar soaps? I’m especially fond of the Morning Start Shower Gel!
Food triggers are a serious influencer of keratosis pilaris. Thankfully, the foods that tend to trigger the outbreaks are 100% unnecessary and are generally void of quality nutritional value. These would include:
🔥Refined white sugar
🔥High fructose corn syrup
🔥Trans fats (found predominantly in junk and fast foods)
🔥Refined carbs (white bread, pastries, soda, sugary breakfast cereals, etc)
🔥Artificial flavorings and colorings
🔥Commercial (homogenized/pasteurized) dairy
My feeling about KP is that, while annoying and harmless, it is an early red flag clue that bumpy waters may lay ahead if reparations are not in order. If food is a trigger, then the gut is compromised and showing early signs of stress. Don’t let this stress escalate…. It’s a slippery slope. The gut is at the root of all chronic disease throughout the body, not the least of which is digestive disorders themselves! YL’s Life 9 probiotic and a digestive enzyme (Essentialzyme, Essentialzymes-4, Allerzyme, or Detoxzyme) would be excellent supportive measures to get and keep your gut on track.
KP is a common skin condition among children too….. It’s far better to nip things in the bud than it is to let a situation escalate, even if it means going thru a season of junk food withdrawal. Good eating habits are perhaps one of the best gifts you can give a kiddo! Don’t forget that Young Living has Kidscents Mightypro probiotic packets and Mightyzyme chewable digestive enzymes for little tummies too!
Because KP is actually a buildup of dead tissue, a gentle but effective way to minimize the bumps is by using a “clean” DIY sugar scrub on the areas 3-4 times a week.
2 cups organic brown sugar
½ cup organic fractionated coconut oil
½ cup honey
5 drops of lavender essential oil
* Dandruff affects roughly 50% of the population and comes in a few common types. It too is more annoying than harmful, but clues are flying with each brushing of the hair!
Possible causes of dandruff include:
🔥Chronic inflammatory skin condition(s).... Remember skin is a mirror of the gut!
🔥Allergy or sensitivity to something either applied or ingested (again, gut flag!)
🔥Yeast overgrowth (gut flag!)
🔥Omega 3 deficiency
Managing stress is key with any inflammatory condition. Stress reduction techniques include yoga, prayer, meditation, deep breathing, and utilizing your favorite calming essential oils.
A whopping 98% of the US population fails when it comes to optimal Omega 3’s in their diet. OmegaGize3 is loaded with what we need so as not to be a part of that epic fail statistic. Other clues of Omega 3 deficiencies may include dry hair, dry skin, depression, dry eyes, joint pain and stiffness.
* Thinning hair is something that happens gradually over time. While it is normal to lose around 100 hairs a day, hairs should also be growing back in as they are falling out. Very few people have the hair in their 50’s+ that they had in their 20’s. #aginghappens
Factors that affect thinning hair may include:
Genetics (family pattern hair loss)
Emotional & physical stress
Medical conditions (thyroid or hormone imbalance, and heart disorders)
Poor nutrition or poor absorption of nutrients
Hair products that make thinning worse
Decrease in collagen production as we age
---Ways to minimize thinning hair include eating nutrient dense foods (and utilizing the YL digestive enzymes mentioned above!), OmegaGize3 !!!, and supplemental collagen (internally).
Medications will always and forever have side effects. By their very definition they are a toxin, and many of them cause hair loss. Some of the top offenders include:
Certain acne meds
Anti-coagulants (after about 3-4 months)
Immunosuppressants (methotrexate, Enbrel, Humira etc)
Some anti seizure meds
Blood pressure meds (those whose generic name ends in -olol or -pril)
Mood stabilizer meds (including paxil, zoloft, amitriptyline, and prozac)
Weight loss meds (eg: phentermine)
Gout meds (allopurinol)
Many chemotherapy agents
Steroids (which are also immunosuppressants)
NSAIDS (ex: ibuprofen, naproxen )
I am not a doctor, and cannot diagnose, treat or cure you. I will however, continue to provide you with clues you can use to help you find your way back to the vibrant healthy person God designed you to be (or to support the vibrant health person you already are!). Which body part should we cover next as we continue to unearth clues?
