Postpartum depression. It affects 10-15% of women post pregnancy, and often begins a merrygoround of medication use that is hard get off. Take a few minutes to read this gal's story. She is not alone.
Several years ago at the pharmacy, I began asking women who were getting new prescriptions for antidepressants or antianxiety medications if they had received labwork prior to being handed a first time antidepressant or antianxiety prescription by their doctor. Remarkably, 95% or more had not.
This issue isn't always about low progesterone (read the story) . It could be an unresolved thyroid issue, a low Vitamin D level, or many other possibilities fairly easily spotted by doing proper labwork analysis. Sadly, insurance often won't pay for this, and many doctors who work for a medical conglomerate healthcare system won't order the needed labs because it falls outside of the approved diagnostic protocols set by upper management or insurance companies.
Save yourself some time and grief and get the labs necessary by paying out of pocket. It can be done easily in most states. This is one of the services I offer in my health coaching calls. It just might change your life. 😘
Eye Clues Part I
“People’s eyes tell me more than their mouths.”
Eye diseases affect millions of people in the USA. Just like the age old, “Which came first?” question about the chicken🐔 and the egg🐣, we might also want to ask the question about diseases of the eyes. You see (pun intended😁!), diseases of the body may first present themselves as clues within the peepers or eye diseases may result because of dysfunctions within the body… Some of these clues discussed over the next few weeks will be easy to spot by looking in the mirror, while others may require help from a friend, and others may only be seen by your favorite eye care professional.
👀According to the National Eye Institute, the eye blood vessels (those we can see with our naked eye and those that a professional can see) often reflect the condition of brain blood vessels. Blood vessels in the eyes are similar in size, structure, and function to those found in the brain. Thus, inflamed or damaged vessels within the eye are often a predictor of future dementia, cardiovascular disease or stroke. It is very important to listen and make a point of understanding any abnormality your ophthalmologist may point out. Early intervention may make a difference between vision and blindness. Other clues within the eyes are often tied to disorders and dysfunctions occurring in the body. Additionally, many medications can lead to secondary eye diseases…. another reason to avoid a polypharmacy lifestyle whenever possible!
Cataracts, glaucoma, Age Related Macular Degeneration (AMD) and diabetic retinopathy are clues we’ll start with, as they are extremely common eye diseases in the United States, affecting millions and millions of people predominantly over the age of 40. You’ll notice in our discussion that the damage likely began occurring many years earlier! #cluesyoucanuse
👀Cataracts affect more than 22 million Americans 40 years and older. Those who will be predisposed to cataracts will have a history of:
🔎Long term steroid use
🔎Excessive alcohol intake
🔎Radiation treatment or exposure to the upper body
🔎Blood pressure medications (beta blockers and ACE inhibitors)
🔎Photosensitivity causing medications that increase sensitivity of sunlight to the eyes (BCP’s, antihistamines, antidepressants, diabetes meds, NSAIDS are a few known to do this). Wear sunglasses😎 if you are on these meds!
🔎Living in an area with high air pollution. Let’s park here for just a second. We tend to think of air pollution as being something outdoors, generated by someone else. Yet in standard American households, poor air quality is inadvertently self induced with synthetic fragrance plug in’s, toxic cleaners, candles, aerosolized deodorants and hair sprays, and sprayed toxic air fresheners. Please do not do this to yourself or your family. If you haven’t yet started, begin switching over to 100% natural alternatives beginning with Thieves Household Cleaner and a diffuser with a wide variety of Young Living clean fresh scents. Ya’ll, take a moment and share your favorite fall/winter diffuser recipes in the comments!
👀Glaucoma will be most prevalent in those who have a history of:
🔎Long term steroid use
🔎Medications used in the treatment of Parkinsons, epilepsy, depression, allergies, and prostate disorders. Additionally, NSAIDS, and antipsychotics have also been implicated. Birth Control Pills have been under close scrutiny in the last decade as possible purveyors of glaucoma predisposition. Eyes have estrogen receptors within them, and many scientists believe that healthy natural estrogen levels have a protective effect on the retina. Eye disease is often insidious and damage to the optic nerve is slow. A large study released in 2011 found that women who had used birth control pills for more than 5 years had a 25% increase in their glaucoma risk.
🔎Genetics, trauma, or injury
👀Macular Degeneration is another sneaky eye disorder. Early diagnosis is usually the result of an attentive eye care professional who will recognize the telltale signs under the retina. There are some outward early clues for the potential ocularly challenged. Difficulty in judging distance when walking (making it harder to keep your balance) and slightly blurred central vision are two clues that indicate a visit to an ophthalmologist would be appropriate. 🔎Prescription medications that may predispose someone to Macular Degeneration include beta blockers and certain other blood pressure medications. Genetics also tends to play a part. That said, remember that 90% of gene expression is environmental (epigenetics) and we have much control over our environment!
👀Diabetic retinopathy is a complication usually resulting from poorly managed blood sugar. The longer blood sugar is poorly controlled, the greater the likelihood that this condition will develop. Symptoms are gradual (as with most chronic eye diseases), and include spots or “floaters” in vision, blurred vision, fluctuating vision impairment, dark or empty areas of vision, and ultimately vision loss. Diabetic retinopathy is the leading cause of blindness between the ages of 20-74 years old. It is no small problem, and affects an estimated 4 million people every year.
If you’ve identified yourself in any of these possible scenarios, now’s the time to add IlluminEyes to your Young Living shopping cart on the regular. We have much to talk about in the way of eye health clues and supportive measures to counter balance the stumbling blocks we’ve all encountered in our walk through life. Eyes require certain nutrients…. Vitamins A, C, E, Lutein, and Zeaxanthin are key to optimal eye health, and IlluminEyes contains all of these. It also contains dried Wolfberry fruit powder which has a unique type of zeaxanthin that naturally boosts blood levels 2-5x higher than sources acquired elsewhere. Good stuff!
Support your eyes proactively. Once the damage is done, it’s often difficult (or impossible) to reverse. See you next week with more eye clues!
My email inbox is an eclectic mix. I mean really..... if someone were to go through it, they'd likely wonder what in the world goes on in my brain I'm sure. 😂.... and truly, sometimes I feel that way myself. It's an Olympic level ping pong game on some days!
Daily I am wading through emails from entities who highly endorse Western Medicine while others give the latest information on holistic ways to heal (nearly all I've chosen to subscribe to are like me..... western medicine healthcare trained professionals who have seen that there is another, better way). Researching and gleaning information is a time consuming process. There is very little way of doing it quickly.
I see information like this: "FDA Issues Warning About Use of Dermal Fillers with Needle -Free Devices" (note: those with needles are also worth the warning). https://www.medscape.com/viewarticle/960557?uac=245954MZ...
What if there might be another way? What if drinking enough water, staying away from toxins in food, beverage, skincare, and household chemicals..... getting enough exercise and sleep... got your foot in the door to more youthful looking skin?
What if there was a boho beauty regimen you could add to your day that improved the appearance of your skin gradually with regular use? 🙋♀️
YL CBD Beauty Boost + YL Longevity Vitality in a capsule.... have you tried it for 4-6 weeks? AMAZING!! ( You’ll use the beauty serum (1/4-1/2 dropper applied topicaly) and longevity filled capsules (2-5 drops per day internally) each day for 30-45 days.
If you don't currently have a Young Living account, let's walk through skin health conundrums together. I offer a complimentary 30 min consult (www.goodmedicine.info for booking)
I have had a clean skin care regimen thanks to Young Living for almost 8 years, and have been taking the Longevity in a capsule for about 5 years. Clean skincare begins from the inside out! I added the CBD Beauty Boost about 3 months ago. Frankly, I really didn't think my skin could improve. I was wrong. I'll post a recent pic of myself in the comments.
Stay safe ya'll. Save yourself some money too (that dermal filling ain't cheap!). You won't regret it.
Myocarditis is finally being studied as a side effect of the 💉. Scarring of the heart does not fix itself over time.
Please learn to navigate VAERS. The knowledge you glean from doing so may save you grief in the future. At the very least, it provides informed choice.
Stats don't lie. If you submit yourself to a hospital protocol, are you given full disclosure of the meds used on you? Remdesivir was pulled from an ebola study because of the damage that was being done to the kidneys.
What happens when the kidneys don't work properly? Fluid begins backing up in the body.
What happens when fluid begins backing up in the body? Fluid begins to accumulate around the heart and in the lungs, which could be misinterpreted /misattributed to something else especially if you happen to be in the hospital for a respiratory illness.
Remdesivir didn't suddenly become safer. All to "treat" something with a 99.9+ survival rate (there are also early , and highly successful outpatient treatment options).
You must be your own health advocate. Make sure you've done your research and that you have given a loved one Medical Power of Attorney before its needed. That in itself is a form of insurance..... otherwise, you may be at the complete mercy of a system that shaves off survival rates considerably by using Remdesivir.
I share because I care. Do your research!
How can there be unbiased information from our medical industry when money exchanges hands between provider and drug company.
You scratch my back..... I'll scratch yours.
Even if you do not read the attached article(in the black box below), I'd like to point one name out.... Dr. Sanjay Gupta...... a well known medical correspondent for CNN and social media medical advisor.... if you follow CNN or know someone who does, it's likely his advice would have been heeded at some point. (He's made over 1.6 million $$ from back scratching with Big Pharma ).
Lesser known, Dr. Stephen Stahl's pockets are at the top of the heap.... at 8.6 million $$. He's considered a foremost expert on psychopharmacology, and has written over 500 papers, 35 text books, and edited 12 more. You can imagine how much influence he has in academic circles. He talks.... people listen.
There's been some serious back scratching going on there.
Y'all.... there will always be a time and place for Western Medicine pharmacology, but not like this. Vested or veiled interests usually ends in tweaking information leaning towards the hand that feeds. It's illegal in the government (supposedly ) , it's illegal in the stocks and bonds industry, it's prohibited in jury selections..... the list goes on.
Psych drugs are enormously profitable.
It's a rare day when someone who starts down the path of being on a psych med is able to get off of them. Most of them are not classified as being addictive, yet try getting off of even one (much less a handful of them, as is usually the end case), and the body very much responds negatively. It can certainly be done, with medical supervision and a great deal of time.....each one of the medications so severely alters neurotransmitter production in the body.
We humans are not "medication deficient". It's far more complicated than that. The number of psych drugs prescribed (1 in 6 people are on one or more in the USA) is a pure reflection of two things..... the brokenness of our world, and the lack of delving adequately into the root of the problem. How many people who embarked on their medication journey had extensive (and I mean EXTENSIVE) lab work to rule out hormone or nutrient imbalances and committed to God centered compassionate counseling? Only when these fail to bring results should medication be brought in to the picture.
I leave you with this sobering stat: According to the American Addiction Centers website, more people die from psychiatric medication overdose than those who die from heroin overdose in our country. (The biggest killers are the most common ones.... Xanax , Ambien, anti-depressants, psycho-stimulants (ex Ritalin), and anti-psychotics.... in order of prevalence). I can't imagine what the mayhem of 2020-2021 has done to those numbers in the last two years. (article below in gray box)
Please. Watch whom you get your health information from..... whether it's on a topic like this, or another. If money is exchanging hands, you can be assured that the information has been tweaked to benefit the financial benefactor. This is only one aspect of the industry. You may be shocked about who else's backs are being scratched. Well known names. 2020-2021 names that everyone now knows.
I met Dawn several years ago at a Mother Earth News conference, and have followed her work ever since. She is a wealth of information as a herbalist. I too have spoken to many many people who have jab remorse. Her advice is sound and filled with grace. I felt it worthy of sharing.
Please. Think on this. Aside from the fact that over 4 billion doses have been given in the last 40 years including children and pregnant women. Vilified truth should be looked at closely. Vilification doesn't make truth untrue. Instead one might wonder why "they" are working so hard to do so.
As my wise grandfather used to say.... it's a different kind of golden rule. "Those with the gold make the rules." (And perhaps distort the truth to keep the gold flowing).
As an additional point of reference, Tylenol is harder on the liver than IVM. In fact, there is a lovely study showing the benefits of IVM in treating non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (something an estimated 25% of North American have... and most are unaware they have it).
I realize all this information takes a little digging, but surely..... if we have learned anything..... it is to revive the gift of discernment God has given each and every one of us.
Remember, we are all worth more as a commodity to the Medical Industrial Complex (a real institution) if we are sick than if we are well, healthy, and living life using our gifts, talents, and treasures to help others. 🙏❤🙏
Four days of an amazing Faith and Freedom revival in Missouri have us like 🇺🇸🙌❤ on the way home. My goodness it was amazing!
I'm pretty sure there were more than 40 speakers and at least 25% were pastors from all over the USA.
This is an incredible article written by a lawyer, and truly, it reflects exactly what the last 4 days represented. It's a long article and 110% worth reading.
About midway through article there is an excellent video of what goes on within the body!
Hey there....thanks for stopping by! This is me (Liz James)... an eclectic mixture of holistic (and organic) farmgirl meets pharmacist. It's a synergy that works well as I speak truths and dissect fact from fiction. If you're looking for healthier living options, you've come to the right place!
